Irene Maslowski, APR

Irene Maslowski is the President of Maslowski & Associates, a public relations consultancy in Roseland, N.J. founded in 1988, serving clients in the corporate,non-profit, and business-to-business arena.

Prior to founding her company, Irene was the Assistant Public Relations Director for Jewelers of America, Inc. in New York City.  In this role she was responsible for all public relations and communications activities related to the association’s bi-annual trade shows and for the employee relations program.

During her career, Irene has supervised the development of successful communications campaigns for many organizations, and has been the editor of numerous newsletters and company publications. She has worked with print editors and broadcast producers on the regional and national level to obtain media placements for her clients, has been a contributing editor for many publications, and has served as the producer of two New Jersey cable television shows.

Irene's contacts and strong media relationships have led to successful
placements in many outlets. Examples include Woman's Day, Ladies
Home Journal, Better Homes and Gardens, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and CBS's Health Watch.

Her background within the public relations industry is varied and her skills include strategic public relations planning; speechwriting; grant writing; coordinating special events; and writing and editing newsletters, brochures, and annual reports.

In addition to handling her own client accounts, Irene has served as an adjunct PR arm to several public relations, marketing, and advertising agencies.

Irene's work has been well received by clients and peers alike.  She has been a four-time recipient of the Pyramid Award from the Public Relations Society of America-New Jersey Chapter in 2000 (Government/Public Affairs/Community Relations); 2002 (Annual Reports/Magazines-Non-Profit); 2003 (Community Relations/Special Events-Non-Profit); 2008 (Community Relations/Special Events.) 

She is the past President of the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (2002-2004), is currently the President-elect of the New York City Chapter of PRSA, and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Women in Communications, Northern New Jersey Chapter.

She frequently lectures and facilitates training workshops for organizations and colleges and universities on various topics related to public relations: Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)-National Conference 2004; New Jersey State Housing Authority; New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce; New Jersey Society of CPAs; and Small Business Administration (SBA)-Rutgers University.  She has also served as a trainer in crisis communications for Duke University’s Corporate Education Program and the National League of Cities’ Annual Conference in Washington D.C.

Irene received her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR), which is administered by examination through the Universal Accreditation Board and the Public Relations Society of America. The Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations measures knowledge, experience, and professional judgment of the public relations industry.
Irene completed her undergraduate work in Liberal Arts at Montclair State University and Thomas Edison State College, and is currently studying for a Masters Degree of Science in Communications Management at the Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University.

Irene was a presenter at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Corporate Communications Institute 2006 Conference in Wroxton, England, where she presented her case study titled “The Role of Communitarianism in Public Relations.”
